Living/Family Rooms Matter When Preparing Your Home For Sale!

Living and family rooms matter!

When preparing your home for sale, these are among the first rooms prospective buyers and guests see after entering through the front door.

The furnishings should be beautiful as well as practical and be arranged in a way to facilitate movement to other rooms.

Dont' crowd furniture or accessories to allow buyers to visualize their own belongings in the home.

Large artwork and mirrors create contrasts and make a striking background in the room.

If the room has new or refinished wood floors, expose them for all to see!

C.L. Design Services Home Staging prepared this lovely Walnut Creek home for sale last week.

A very motivated, cooperative family stored all the designated furnishings before we arrived on staging day and here are the results!

I love the before and after photos because it always the simple changes which make the most impact.  I love the changes you made to the living room!  Taking away furniture and repositioning the remaining items made a huge difference.  Great work!

Cathy ~ what a wonderful example of how home staging can make the home's best features come to light for potential buyers!  Those rooms were so crowded and jumbled before ... now the spacious rooms are welcoming to buyers.  Great job!

Cathy, the place looks so much better after your touch, I wish you lived in Austin so I could refer you!

What's the matter, CL?  You don't like having the fancy eatin' table in the living room?  LOL  Julie

I had a client with a pool table in the dining room.  It made quite an impression upon entering the house.  I was not as convincing as you were though when it came to removing it.  Lucky for my seller, a single guy became the buyer.

Cathy - great job.  You can actually breathe now that the furniture has been edited out.

I am so glad you all agree a pool table is wonderful for family fun-but not when you are selling a home!!

Thanks for the kind compliments!

Well you must be in an area without a basement.   I can't imagine a house with a pool table in the family room.

Great job as usual

Cathy: you literally exhale seeing the 1st "after"  pic. It is such a breath of fresh air to see the open space in that room. So glad the owner was willing to lose the pool table! It makes the room really work!

Virginia, nope, we do not have basements here in California~

Hey there Cari and Doug, nice to have cooperative homeowners, especially when their kids are home for the summer...but Dad's been tranferred so they are motivated.

What a difference you have made in this home.  You can now see past the owner's belongings and see the home.  It's so much more spacious and each room is better defined.  Well done!

Cathy Lee, I came back to also mention that I am amazed that manage to get the sellers to remove the ubiquitous pool table! Nice work ;-)

Cathy I am most impressed that you got the owners to remove all that furniture and let you stage it! I would love to have been in on that conversation :)

Hello again-it helps that Dad has been transferred so this home is full of motivated family members.  :)

Pool hall to living room. Good job! That must have been quite the conversation as those tables are not easy to move.

Cathy,

What a huge transformation in both rooms!  A big pool table in the Living Room and so much furniture in the Family Room.  Both Rooms look spacious now!  I like what you put the TV on in the Family Room...it looked like it was on a big box before.  Great job as always Cathy!
