Danville CA, Lend a Hand-Help a Neighbor!

The Town of Danville and Community Presbyterian Church members today participated in the 7th annual "Lend a Hand" helping neighbors in need. 180 volunteers provided no-cost yard cleanup and minor home repairs for seniors, disabled and families with limited resources.

I was with an incredible team of volunteers. We trimmed trees, wacked weeds and transformed an incredibly cluttered home today for a very deserving, sweet woman in the Cameo Neighborhood of Danville.

"Measure your performance by your followers" Amos White

Amos White, Social Media expert, teacher and guest speaker today at Women's Council of Realtors Southern Alameda Chapter, gave a very grateful audience guidelines and wisdom for our businesses.

Amos stressed the importance of measuring our performances by tracking our followers.

Websites, Blogs, Facebook, Twitter; who is visiting, subscribing, my friend, following me.....How fast am I growing??? We need to be aware of our growth and as Amos so passionately expressed, "feel our followers".

Connecting with our family, friends, classmates, clients, colleagues is a good beginning platform.

Building relationships is the most effective networking. "It builds over time"

"We need to remember to be be 3-dimensional, add links and opinions, be current, responsive, share, be open, honest, and respectful when participating in social networking. "

Amos reminded us how much richer and better life is when we "SHARE"  and extend our sphere of influence to enrich our relationships.

His blog address is amoswhite3.wordpress.com

I am still digesting all the wisdom Amos shared today!! Thank you, Cathy Lee

Uncharted Water's...When Real Life and Fitness Collide!

Lorrie Sullenberger is married to US Airway Captain Chesley B. "SULLY" Sullenberger, who famously landed Flight 1549 in the Hudson River on January 15, 2009. They live in Danville and Lorrie is the creator of the television show Fit and Fabulous Outdoor, which inspires women from all fitness levels to incorporate fitness and outdoors into their daily routine.

Tonight Lorrie was the guest speaker at Mt. Diablo Business Women's Dinner Meeting. She shared how their world turned upside down in an instant. "We have to be Ready. We must be prepared, mentally and physically." Her message was very inspiring and she spoke with such conviction.  Lorrie said we must be mentally and physically fit for our big moment-it may be tomorrow.  Sully had been expanding his knowledge on safety for years.  She has experience with media-they were completely prepared for their big moment! They are truly grateful they were!!

Lorrie is spending her days speaking to women's group, organizations and schools on physical fitness.

Sully is completing a book on the landing of Flight 1549 and will return to flying in the late fall of this year.

"Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken" author, coach, speaker, Mike Robbins

Mike Robbins was the guest speaker at CCRIM yesterday.  He gave an inspiring message to all in attendance.

Mike, a retired professional baseball player with the Kansas City Royals, believes the key to success is found in the power of appreciation and expressing our own authenticity. He shared a few amazing personal stories that challenged many of us in a very positive way. He used specific examples of ways to connect and show gratitude to those around us.

His new, best selling book was released in April.

Mike believes insight without actions makes no difference.

A Smudge for Reflection

Alfred had an old car than ran OK on paved roads, but on the bumpy roads near his home it would pop out of gear.  To Alfred this was always a surprise.  After he heard the bump he would press the gas pedal, but the car would continue to slow down.  Only then would he remember to put the car back in gear. But that moment after the bump, when nothing seemed to work, was always the strange one for him.

Reflection strikes many of us the same way.  Our lives are full of action, doing things, making things happen.  Our goals drive us ahead.  We like to count our achievements daily. Regular reflection, which is an essential part of fine tuning our humanity, may give many of us the same kind of feeling Alfred got when his old car popped out of gear.

Perhaps this is why the church developed putting a smudge of ash on our foreheads.

The smudge reminds us of to prepare for a richer participation in the celebration of Spring and Easter.

Give us patience to REFLECT!!!!  Cathy Lee
